Our Vision: To be the leader in the provision of affordable housing in our service areas
Our Mission: To provide housing and related services to low and moderate income families, elderly and disabled households and to relieve the community of substandard housing. Our Objectives: The Authority pursues four objectives to fulfill our mission.
To create affordable housing opportunities for the community.
To protect and enhance the property and programs that we operate.
To develop our organizational infrastructure so that it can efficiently manage our operations.
To develop, enhance and strengthen our external relationships with key partners, other agencies, and the larger community.
The Longmont Housing Authority manages housing programs that ensure low and moderate income residents of Longmont have safe, decent, and affordable housing. The LHA and its sister agency, Longmont Housing Development Corporation (LHDC), together operate eleven combined programs or residential properties that assisted 716 households in 2007, an increase of 60 households (9%) from the 656 households served in 2006. The increase came from the growth of three programs; the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8), Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program, and the Briarwood apartments.
The Authority is governed by a five-member volunteer Board of Housing Commissioners appointed to five-year terms by the City Council. They are dedicated, passionate, and knowledgeable affordable housing advocates.
The majority of LHA’s services are funded primarily from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; the remainder is funded by local and state grants, and rental income. In 2007 the Authority managed housing assistance services in four program areas; Housing Choice Vouchers, Housing First Programs, the real estate portfolio of 158 housing units, and Community Collaboration Activities.
In June of 2007 the LHA moved its offices from rented space to newly renovated offices at 1228 Main Street, the former Briarwood Motel. The November 14th dedication of the building was attended by nearly 100 people!
